Berada sekitar empat kilometer sebelah selatan kota Rantepao atau 14 kilometer sebelah utara Makale. Kete Kesu adalah sebuah area di mana beberapa tongkonan berdiri berjajar, dilengkapi dengan lumbung padi (alang sura), area upacara pemakaman (rante), dan tempat pertemuan adat.

Tak terasa, sudah 5 jam saya berada di dalam bus. Perjalanan kali ini, saya menuju Ke Toraja, daerah yang berada di Utara Sulawesi Selatan. Kota yang di kenal dengan kopi nya . Dalam perjalanan menuju Toraja,saya melewati jalan Lintas Makassar – Toraja dan selama perjalanan ini, saya di suguhi pemandangan yang indah. Landskap yang pelan pelan berubah dari pantai menuju pegunungan. Dari barisan awan dan biru nya laut. Menjadi lembah hijau dan barisan pegunungan. Sungguh memberikan nuansa yang berbeda.

3 jam lagi. Tiba lah saya di Toraja, Kota ini sekarang sudah menjadi dua kabupaten yaitu Toraja dan Toraja Utara. Dengan masing masing ibu kota nya Makale dan Rante Pao. Tujuan saya adalah Kota Rante Pao.
Setelah turun di pasar Rante Pao, segera saya berjalan mencari penginapan. Dan beristirahat untuk ke esokan hari nya menuju tempat tempat yang ada di kawasan ini.

Ke esokan hari nya, dengan menyewa motor, saya pergi ke tempat yang di kenal dengan nama Ke’te’ Kesu. Ke’te’ Kesu’ ini terletak di kampung Bonoran, Kelurahan Tikunna Malenong, Kecamatan Sanggalangi, Toraja Utara, Sulawesi Selatan, Indonesia. Berada sekitar empat kilometer sebelah selatan kota Rantepao atau empat belas kilometer sebelah utara Makale. Kete Kesu adalah sebuah area di mana beberapa tongkonan berdiri berjajar, dilengkapi dengan lumbung padi (alang sura), area upacara pemakaman (rante), dan tempat pertemuan adat.

Patokan menuju Ke’te’ Kesu’ ini mudah, dari penginapan. Saya mengikuti jalan Poros Toraja – Makassar, ke arah Makale. Begitu tiba di persimpangan dimana ada Patung Sapi berwarna merah jambu, ambil kanan. Dan terus saja, maka kita akan tiba di Kawasan Ke’te’ Kesu’

Di Ke’te’ Kesu’ ini, terdapat Tongkonan yang sudah berumur 400 Tahun,. Tongkonan ini merupakan peninggalan Puang Ri Kesu’. Tongkonan ini, berfungsi sebagai tempat musyawarah,mengolah dan menetapkan aturan adat baik itu aluk maupun pamali yang di gunakan sebagai aturan hidup di Masyarat Kesu’.

Atap di tongkonan ini, sudah di tumbuhi dengan tumbuhan dan ornament ornament yang ada di tongkonan sudah tidak terlalu jelas karena sudah lapuk di makan usia. Namun masih berdiri dengan kokoh. Tongkonan ini, di hiasi dengan tengkorak kerbau yang menunjukkan status mereka. Semakin banyak tengkorak maka status mereka di masyarakat tinggi. Selain terdapat Tongkonan, di kawasan ini juga terdapat lumbung lumbung padi. Lumbung padi ini sebagian ada yang berumur sama dengan tongkonan ini, dan sebagian juga ada yang baru.

Setelah puas melihat tongkonan dan lumbung padi yang berada di kawasan ini. Saya berjalan ke belakang dari kawasan ini di belakang dari kawasan ini, saya melihat kubur an para bangsawan Toraja. Di sini, saya menemukan kubur batu yang berukuran besar. Kubur Batu setinggi gedung 3 lantai. Kubur ini, merupakan kuburan buatan. Karena sudah tua nya peti mati yang ada, sebagian besar peti mati ini lapuk dimakan usia dan kita dapat melihat tengkorak tengkorak para bangsawan yang di kubur di kawasan ini. Sungguh merupakan wisata kebudayaan yang menarik.

Selain tongkonan dan kubur batu. Di sini, saya juga melihat para perajin kerajinan khas Toraja. Di sini, terdapat para seniman ukir . Dengan ukiran ukiran khas toraja. Biasa nya kegiatan ini dimulai pada pukul 02.00 WITA sampai selesai , kita dapat menyaksikan para perajin ini mengukir di kayu, mengecat miniature tongkonan dengan warna warna khas toraja. Sungguh merupakan suguhan yang sangat menarik.

Tak terasa, sudah dua jam saya di kawasan ini, sungguh merupakan pengalaman yang menarik. Saat nya saya meninggalkan kawasan Ke’te’ Kesu’ ini, dan melanjutkan perjalanan menuju objek wisata yang menarik di sini.
